Job Title: Port General Agent (Commercial Market Manager)

FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Range (Hourly): $30.00 - $50.00

SUMMARY

Researches and identifies new and existing cargo trends, which can develop cargo movements in support of the Port and Rail subsidiary (New Orleans Public Belt Railroad) mission to maximize the flow of waterborne cargo through the port and the railroad.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform market and financial analysis on the Port’s container, breakbulk & project cargo, and real estate businesses and the Rail business to better inform executives on commercial decisions (tariff pricing, leases, incentive design).

Analyze trade volumes, customer volumes, tariff, leases, operating performance (berth utilization, vessel and crane productivity, etc.) and revenues, to identify necessary focus areas and opportunities for the commercial division. Compare to competing ports / gateways and identify opportunities for the Port and Rail to increase cargo volumes.

Aggregate data from multiple sources to summarize into visual charts to present strategic direction on commercial projects. Produce reports using business intelligence, analytics and collaboration with Port and Rail commercial teams along with other disciplines within the Port and Rail. Provide team with data-driven roadmap for sales execution and if needed to determine ROI for Port / Rail and value for customer.

Supervise data analytic clerk.

Work on special projects and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• College degree
• Experience in the maritime industry and or transportation industry.
• Strong analytical skills
• Effective communication and presentation abilities.
