The Port of New Orleans mission is to drive regional economic prosperity by maximizing the flow of international trade and commerce as a modern gateway. Port NOLA supports regional economies as well as local economies. Our port also serves as a significant resource for emergency preparedness. Port NOLA is a significant source of local employment, within our community. We support employment in related sectors such as trucking and rail transportation. Our port activity generates a significant amount of jobs in related sectors and through the overall economic impact on the surrounding communities.

Our organization also takes pride in giving back to the community.

 

Workforce Development

Workforce Development

The Port of New Orleans contributes significantly to two of the State’s largest economic engines. To ensure that residents in our jurisdiction can access the jobs generated by the maritime and hospitality industries, Port NOLA is developing a workforce development program.

We are working collaboratively with our tenants, related industry businesses, educational institutions, economic development partners, elected officials and others to help connect job providers with job seekers. We are also working with local technical schools, community colleges and four-year colleges and universities to help ensure training opportunities match job needs.
