The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) honored the top 10 shippers and ocean carriers that have contributed to Port NOLA’s success over the years during the 10th anniversary of the Cargo Connections Conference (CCC) on Monday, April 9, 2018.

SeaLand Container

Sealand, the Intra-Americas regional ocean carrier of the Maersk Group, will operate a new direct, all-water service, the Gulf Ocean Express (GOEX) service, that connects Central America, Panama and Columbia to and from the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA).

Port Members Accepting the Clean TRIP Award

The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) received an Environmental Leadership Award from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) on April 10, 2018, for the success of its Clean Truck Replacement Incentive Program (Clean TRIP) which used federal and state clean diesel grants to voluntarily improve air quality by replacing old diesel cargo trucks with new, cleaner-burning models.

Governor Edwards Appointing Charles H. Ponstein to the Board of Commissioners

Gov. John Bel Edwards appointed Charles H. Ponstein to the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans as the St. Bernard Parish representative on the seven-member regional board. Ponstein was sworn in during today’s monthly Board meeting and will serve a five-year term succeeding William T. Bergeron.

The Port of New Orleans will host the annual Cargo Connections Conference (CCC) April 8-10 at The Chicory in downtown New Orleans marking the 10th anniversary of the dynamic three-day conference that focuses on the efficient transportation of energy products, steel and other raw materials, containerized cargo and more.

Governor Edwards Appointing William H Langenstein to the Board of Comissioners

Gov. John Bel Edwards appointed William H. Langenstein, III to the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans. Langenstein, who was sworn in during today’s monthly Board meeting, will serve a five-year term, succeeding Michael W. Kearney, one of four Orleans Parish representatives on the seven-member regional Board.

Carnival Cruise Line announced today it will expand capacity on its short cruise offerings from the Port of New Orleans beginning in 2019.

Norwegian Cruise Line announced today it will deploy the 4,000-passenger Norwegian Breakaway to the Port of New Orleans beginning November 2018.

Bahri Ro Ro

The Port of New Orleans increased its connection to major ports in the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, and the Mediterranean Sea and welcomed the return of roll-on, roll-off service with the inaugural call of the Bahri Yanbu, a new state-of-the-art multipurpose vessel, in mid-August at the Nashville Avenue Terminal Complex operated by Ports America.
